The Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) is a vital part of planning for the future growth and development of the Fraser Coast community.
As part of Fraser Coast Planning Scheme Amendment Package 1 consultation, Council is also consulting on the proposed new LGIP.
The new LGIP identifies the trunk infrastructure needed to support development growth for the following assets:
The LGIP will guide the provision and upgrade of transport (roads and pathways), stormwater, water, sewer and parks trunk infrastructure to facilitate and support development growth across the Fraser Coast region.
The proposed new LGIP ensures that the planning of trunk infrastructure is coordinated, sustainable, and aligned with our region’s long-term development needs.
What this means for you: The LGIP outlines where and when infrastructure improvements will be made, ensuring that we have the services and facilities needed as our community grows.
Council is currently seeking your feedback on the proposed LGIP to make sure it meets the infrastructure needs of our community.
Your input will help shape the future development of our area and ensure that the infrastructure provided are aligned with the needs of residents, industry, business and visitors.
New LGIP Overview
The new LGIP includes:
LGIP - Background and Context
The Planning Act 2016 requires that Council review the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) every 5 years. Council has completed a review and has decided to make a new LGIP. The review included consultation with industry, internal and external stakeholders and community.
The Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) is a critical planning document that helps guide the delivery of trunk infrastructure such as roads, pathways, water, sewerage and parks to support population growth and development in our community. The LGIP ensures that infrastructure is planned, funded, and delivered in a coordinated and sustainable way, aligning with our region’s future needs.
Community feedback is essential to shaping a well-planned and sustainable future. This consultation provides an opportunity for residents, businesses, and stakeholders to review the draft LGIP and share their thoughts on how infrastructure planning aligns with community expectations and priorities.
Council previously undertook public consultation on a draft LGIP from 17 March to 30 April 2025. That LGIP was drafted to align with the current planning scheme (version11) zoning and assumptions.
In order to progress with public consultation on the Package 1 planning scheme amendments, it was necessary to withdraw the earlier LGIP amendment package and resubmit a new draft LGIP which aligned with the zoning and assumptions contained in the Package 1 planning scheme amendments. This was a procedural requirement to minimise confusion arising from overlapping LGIP amendment processes and minimise delays.
If you made a submission on the earlier draft LGIP, your submission has been retained and will be considered together with the new consolidated LGIP. You do not need to resubmit unless you wish to update or expand on your original submission.
